Artur Paszkiewicz 2432ce9b32 imsm: PPL support
Enable creating and assembling IMSM raid5 arrays with PPL. Update the
IMSM metadata format to include new fields used for PPL.

Add structures for PPL metadata. They are used also by super1 and shared
with the kernel, so put them in md_p.h.

Write the initial empty PPL header when creating an array. When
assembling an array with PPL, validate the PPL header and in case it is
not correct allow to overwrite it if --force was provided.

Write the PPL location and size for a device to the new rdev sysfs
attributes 'ppl_sector' and 'ppl_size'. Enable PPL in the kernel by
writing to 'consistency_policy' before the array is activated.

Artur Paszkiewicz 5308f11727 Generic support for --consistency-policy and PPL
Add a new parameter to mdadm: --consistency-policy=. It determines how
the array maintains consistency in case of unexpected shutdown. This
maps to the md sysfs attribute 'consistency_policy'. It can be used to
create a raid5 array using PPL. Add the necessary plumbing to pass this
option to metadata handlers. The write journal and bitmap
functionalities are treated as different policies, which are implicitly
selected when using --write-journal or --bitmap options.

NeilBrown 1ab9ed2afb Add 'force' flag to *hot_remove_disk().
In rare circumstances, the short period that *hot_remove_disk()
waits isn't long enough to IO to complete.  This particularly happens
when a device is failing and many retries are still happening.

We don't want to increase the normal wait time for "mdadm --remove"
as that might be use just to test if a device is active or not, and a
delay would be problematic.
So allow "--force" to mean that mdadm should try extra hard for a
--remove to complete, waiting up to 5 seconds.

Note that this patch fixes a comment which claim the previous
wait time was half a second, where it was really 50msec.

NeilBrown fdd015696c Introduce sys_hot_remove_disk()
The new hot_remove_disk() will retry HOT_REMOVE_DISK
several times in the face of EBUSY.
However we sometimes remove a device by writing "remove" to the
"state" attributed.  This should be retried as well.
So introduce sys_hot_remove_disk() to repeat this action a few times.

NeilBrown 2dd271fe70 Retry HOT_REMOVE_DISK a few times.
HOT_REMOVE_DISK can fail with EBUSY if there are outstanding
IO request that have not completed yet.  It can sometimes
be helpful to wait a little while for these to complete.

We already do this in impose_level() when reshaping a device,
but not in Manage.c in response to an explicit --remove request.

So create hot_remove_disk() to central this code, and call it
where-ever it makes sense to wait for a HOT_REMOVE_DISK to succeed.

NeilBrown e22fe3ae15 Introduce enum flag_mode for setting and clearing flags.
We currently use '1' to indicate that a flag (writemostly or failfast)
needs to be set, and '2' to indicate that it needs to be cleared.

Using magic number like this is not a best-practice.

So replaced them with values from a enum.

No functional change.

Tomasz Majchrzak 42d902d9db mdmon: bad block support for external metadata - clear bad blocks
If an update of acknowledged bad blocks file is notified, read entire
bad block list from sysfs file and compare it against local list of bad
blocks. If any obsolete entries are found, remove them from metadata.

As mdmon cannot perform any memory allocation, new superswitch method
get_bad_blocks is expected to return a list of bad blocks in metadata
without allocating memory. It's up to metadata handler to allocate all
required memory in advance.

Tomasz Majchrzak 1ab97c976b mdmon: bad block support for external metadata - store bad blocks
If md has changed the state to 'blocked' and metadata handler supports
bad blocks, try process them first. If metadata handler has successfully
stored bad block, acknowledge it to md via 'badblocks' sysfs file. If
metadata handler has failed to store the new bad block (ie. lack of
space), remove bad block support for a disk by writing "-external_bbl"
to state sysfs file. If all bad blocks have been acknowledged, request
to unblock the array.

NeilBrown 71574efb07 Add failfast support.
Allow per-device "failfast" flag to be set when creating an
array or adding devices to an array.

When re-adding a device which had the failfast flag, it can be removed
using --nofailfast.

failfast status is printed in --detail and --examine output.

Artur Paszkiewicz 561ad5597b super1: make internal bitmap size calculations more consistent
Determining internal bitmap size is performed using two different
functions (bitmap_sectors() and calc_bitmap_size()) and in
getinfo_super1() it is calculated in yet another way. Each of these
methods give slightly different results. The most accurate is
calc_bitmap_size() but it also has a rounding issue. So:

- fix the rounding issue in calc_bitmap_size() using bitmap_bits()
- replace usages of bitmap_sectors() and open-coded calculations with
  calc_bitmap_size()
- remove bitmap_sectors()
- move bitmap_bits() to mdadm.h as inline - otherwise mdassemble won't
  compile (it does not use bitmap.c)

Mike Lovell 13db17bd1f Use dev_t for devnm2devid and devid2devnm
Commit 4dd2df0966 added a trip through makedev(), major(), and minor() for
device major and minor numbers. This would cause mdadm to fail in operating
on a device with a minor number bigger than (2^19)-1 due to it changing
from dev_t to a signed int and back.

Where this was found as a problem was when a array was created with a device
specified as a name like /dev/md/raidname and there were already 128 arrays
on the system. In this case, mdadm would chose 1048575 ((2^20)-1) for the
array and minor number. This would cause the major and minor number to become
negative when generated from devnm2devid() and passed to major() and minor()
in open_dev_excl(). open_dev_excl() would then call dev_open() which would
detect the negative minor number and call open() on the *char containing the
major:minor pair which isn't a valid file.

Artur Paszkiewicz f96b130224 Introduce stat2kname() and fd2kname()
These are similar to stat2devnm() and fd2devnm() but not limited to md
devices. If the device is a partition they will return its kernel name,
not the whole device's name. For more information see commit:
8d83493 ("Introduce devid2kname - slightly different to devid2devnm.")

Also remove unsued declaration for fmt_devname().

Jes Sorensen 193b6c0b26 load_sys(): Add a buffer size argument
This adds a buffer size argument to load_sys(), rather than relying on
a hard coded buffer size. The old behavior was safe because we knew
the kernel would never return strings overrunning the buffers, however
it was ugly, and would cause code checking tools to spit out warnings.

This caused a Coverity warning over the read into
sra->sysfs_array_state which is only 20 bytes.

Guoqing Jiang 81a8a69415 mdadm: improve the safeguard for change cluster raid's sb
This commit does the following jobs:

1. rename is_clustered to dlm_funs_ready since it match the
   function better.
2. st->cluster_name can't be use to identify the raid is a
   clustered or not, we should check the bitmap's version to
   perform the identification.
3. for cluster_get_dlmlock/cluster_release_dlmlock funcs, both
   of them just need the lockid as parameter since the cluster
   name can get by get_cluster_name().

Guoqing Jiang 53e76b1def mdadm: do not display bitmap info if it is cleared
"mdadm -X DISK" is used to report information about a bitmap
file, it is better to not display all the related infos if
bitmap is cleared with "--bitmap=none" under grow mode.

To do that, the locate_bitmap is changed a little to have a
return value based on MD_FEATURE_BITMAP_OFFSET.

Deepa Dinamani 26714713cd mdadm: Change timestamps to unsigned data type.
32 bit signed timestamps will overflow in the year 2038.

Change the user interface mdu_array_info_s structure timestamps:
ctime and utime values used in ioctls GET_ARRAY_INFO and
SET_ARRAY_INFO to unsigned int. This will extend the field to last
until the year 2106.

Add time_after/time_before and supporting typecheck from
the kernel to take care of unsigned time wraparound.

The long term plan is to get rid of ctime and utime values in
this structure as this information can be read from the on-disk
meta data directly.

v0.90 on disk meta data uses u32 for maintaining time stamps.
So this will also last until year 2106.
Assumption is that the usage of v0.90 will be deprecated by
year 2106.

Timestamp fields in the on disk meta data for v1.0 version already
use 64 bit data types.

Song Liu 051f326550 mdadm: refactor write journal code in Assemble and Incremental
As discussed, standalone require_journal() in struct superswitch
is not a very good idea. Instead, journal related information
fits well in struct mdinfo.

This patch simplifies journal support code in Assemble and
Incremental as:

- Add journal_device_required and journal_clean to struct mdinfo;
- Remove function require_journal from struct superswitch;
- Update Assemble and Incremental to use journal_device_required
and journal_clean from struct mdinfo (instead of separate var).

Guoqing Jiang d15a1f72bd Safeguard against writing to an active device of another node
Modifying an exiting device's superblock or creating a new superblock
on an existing device needs to be checked because the device could be
in use by another node in another array. So, we check this by taking
all superblock locks in userspace so that we don't  step onto an active
device used by another node and safeguard against accidental edits.
After the edit is complete, we release all locks and the lockspace so
that it can be used by the kernel space.

mdadm checks superblock for journal devices. If the journal device
is missing or faulty, mdadm will show warning

./mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 /dev/sd[c-q] /dev/sdb1
mdadm: Not safe to assemble with missing or stale journal device, consider --force.

User can insist to start the array (read only) with --force

./mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 /dev/sd[c-q] /dev/sdb1 --force
mdadm: Journal is missing or stale, starting array read only.
mdadm: /dev/md0 has been started with 15 drives.

Guoqing Jiang 4de9091302 Add a new clustered disk
A clustered disk is added by the traditional --add sequence.
However, other nodes need to acknowledge that they can "see"
the device. This is done by --cluster-confirm:

--cluster-confirm SLOTNUM:/dev/whatever (if disk is found)
or
--cluster-confirm SLOTNUM:missing (if disk is not found)

The node initiating the --add, has the disk state tagged with
MD_DISK_CLUSTER_ADD and the one confirming tag the disk with
MD_DISK_CANDIDATE.

Guoqing Jiang 7716570e6d Set home-cluster while creating an array
The home-cluster is stored in the bitmap super block of the
array. The device can be assembled on a cluster with the
cluster name same as the one recorded in the bitmap.

If home-cluster is not specified, this is auto-detected using
dlopen corosync cmap library.

neilb: allow code to compile when corosync-devel is not installed.

NeilBrown 1ade5cc15a Consistently print program Name and __func__ in debug messages.
make dprintf() print program name and __func__, so that
this messaging is consistent.

Also remove all __func__ messages from pr_err(). We shouldn't
leak that internal data in error message.
If we really want function name there, we new pr_XXX might
be wanted.

Pawel Baldysiak d56dd607ba Change way of printing name of a process
Sometimes mdadm prints messages with wrong name "mdmon",
and vice versa.
This patch solves this problem by changing method of determining
process name.
Now "Name" will be set in const at start of a program,
previously was hardcoded as #define.

NeilBrown e2efe9e7bc config: new option to suppress adding bad block lists.
CREATE bbl=no

in mdadm.conf will cause any devices added to an array
to not have a bad block list.  By default they do for 1.x
metadata.

This is useful if you are suspicious of the bad-block-list
implementation.

NeilBrown 5fe6f031d9 mdmon: allow prepare_update to report failure.
If 'prepare_update' fails for some reason there is little
point continuing on to 'process_update'.
For now only malloc failures are caught, but other failures
will be considered in future.

Pawel Baldysiak 0c21b485e4 IMSM: Add warning message when assemble spanned container
Due to several changes in code assemble with disks
spanned between different controllers can be obtained
in some cases. After IMSM container will be assembled, check HBA of
disks, and print proper warning if mismatch is detected.
